DEFENCE
Defence
The defence industry holds the responsibility of safeguarding nations’ sovereignty, economic stability and societal well-being from both external and internal threats.
Traditionally associated with the research, development and maintenance of military equipment in service of state defence departments, the ASEAN defence industry has in recent years turned the spotlight on securing cyberspace. With regional dialogue on cybersecurity continues at the annual ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting (ADMM), member nations have made individual efforts, such as in Singapore with the establishment of a Cyber Security Agency (CSA).
As ASEAN evolves into a highly-networked, data-driven economy, new vulnerabilities will be exposed and exploited by malicious organisations and individuals. It is crucial the Defence Industry equips itself with capable cybersecurity professionals and infrastructure enabling prevention and elimination of future threats.
