DIGITAL GOVERNMENT AGENCY

On May 21, B.E. 2540 (1997) the Cabinet agreed and approved in the Information Technology Services Project in order to develop the Government Information Network (GINet) and other relevant activities that supported the government agencies’ usage of Government Information Technology administered under the Government Information Technology Services (GITS) which was attached to National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA)

On February 21, B.E. 2554 (2011), the Royal Decree on the establishment of the Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) was promulgated. The Decree transferred the authorities, duties, and businesses of the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) 2534 (1991), only parts of the Government Information Technology Services (GITS) and other relevant activities of the development of Government Information Technology and Electronic Government Communication under the supervision of Information and Communication Technology Center, to the Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization). From then on, the Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) or EGA was under the supervision of Minister of Information and Communication Technology which the Ministry later changed its name to Ministry of Digital Economy and Society and holds the duty to provide and administrate information infrastructure that involved with Electronic Government such as Government Cloud and Government Information Network or GIN services.

On May 14, B.E. 2561 (2018), the Royal Decree on the establishment of the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) was promulgated. The Decree identifies that the Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) from the Royal Decree of Electronic Government Agency (Public Organization) establishment B.E. 2554 (2011) becomes the Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization). The Digital Government Development Agency (Public Organization) or “DGA” is now under the supervision of the Prime Minister, the Office of Prime Minister. The DGA serves as the central agency of the digital government system with the mission to provide services and support for all government agencies related to digital government transformation.
